How Can My Boyfriend Adopt My Oldest Child Who Was Born Out of Wedlock?the Bio Father Is Never Around.?
Question by : How can my boyfriend adopt my oldest child who was born out of wedlock? The bio father is never around.?
I got pregnant as a teen and was not married. The bio father of the child left me pregnant and hardly ever was there for me. He would go through like two months acting like he cared and then I wouldn’t hear from him for another few months or so. This happened on and on. Throughout my childs whole 3 years, his bio father kept standing him up, chose females and drugs over my child, could not EVER keep a job, would not help me with him, would not be responisble. His parents always paid his phone bill and car insurance, everything. He has never gotten his own place. He is 22 years old. His parents and sister would always threaten me, telling me they were going to take me to court so the bio father could get custody, only believing the lies that the bio father kept saying. ( that I was the one keeping my child from him )Therefore, I blocked them from facebook, myspace, changed my number and address. Bio father only wanted to see my son when it was convenient for him. Never at all supporting him. He has stood my son up so many times that, to protect my childs emotions and well being, I have not tried contacting the bio father since may 2010. Plus he has a history of mental and physical abuse, drugs, sex addiction, partying and irresponsibility. I just do not want my child growing up around a convict who keeps hurting him. I have givin him soo many chances and this time, no more. The bio father is not on the birth certificate and my child has my last name. Also, he would only text and ask abot my son, he would never call or even want to talk to him. Him and his whole family have been lying and slandering to everyone about how I’m a bad mother and that the bio dad isn’t doing anything wrong. My current boyfriend has been there for me since I was pregnant and has provided everything for my child. He is an excellent father figure and even taught him how to use the potty. My current boyfriend is the father of my second child and they both call him daddy. Since the bio father and I have never married and he has never been on the birth certificate and is never there for my son, can my current boyfriend adopt him? What about filing for abandonment? I live in Oklahoma.
