Well, the drug war has made us less safe. While addiction and use of certain drugs such as methamphetamine and crack do hurt us as a society, putting people in jail for harming themselves also harms society. We take people who have never committed violent offenses in their lives and lock them uo with crazy people, then let them out several years later and expect them to perform better in society. It makes no sense. If you’re worried about drugs decreasing your safety, you should help people do something about the way we’re currently handling them.
