My Daughter Amy

My Daughter Amy – A powerful extract from Mitch Winehouse’s very personal behind the scenes doc about how his talented daughter’s addiction has affected him and Amy’s family; and how they tried to support her into recovery. This edit focuses on his meeting with addiction therapist Sarah Graham and her working on his denial around Amy’s cross addiction to alcohol. In it Sarah – who is a recovering addict herself- explains how addiction works in the brain; and why it’s vital that families and loved ones educate themselves about this life-threatening illness. At Kelly Osbourne’s suggestion and with her manager Raye’s help and support, Sarah ran a drugs-free, acupuncture chill-out room for Amy and her band at the Grammy’s. Mitch asked Sarah for her help with this doc- to help ordinary families struggling like his (but with less resources). Sarah and Mitch gave evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee on the Cocaine Trade (see www.parliamentlive.tv My Daughter Amy was first broadcast Feb 2010.
